Statistics and Probability (Time, Tables, & Diagrams) - Week 3: Lesson 3: +/- Time and Units of Time

Adding and subtracting time

steps:
1. first add or subtract the hours
2. add or subtract the minutes

*Uppställning (column) addition and subtraction will NOT always work! Do not use uppställning!
(If you would like to learn the special method for uppställning with time, you can learn it as a challenge in tutorials).

Key words for adding:
when you ask when will something "end",  "be done", "be finished"
(implies the future)

Example Question for adding:
Anna started her homework at 15:23. She worked for 2 hours and 14 minutes. What time did she finish her homework?

Key words for subtracting:
when you ask when something "started", "began"
(implies the past)

Example Question for subtracting:
Luis watched Finding Dory at the theater with some friends. They got out of the movie at 16:55. The movie was 1 hour and 43 minutes long. What time did the movie start?
