Probability and Statistics - Week 8: Lesson 4: Geometry- Angles

Lesson Objective: Intro to Geometry. Students will learn about angles and be able to name them and identify the different types of angles.

Brainstorm: Geometry. What does that word mean?

Intro Angles:

Line: is straight (no curves), has no thickness, and extends in both directions without end (infinitely).
Line Segments: When the line has an end.
Ray: if one side of the line has an end.

Angles: the space between two intersecting lines or surfaces at or close to the point where they meet.

Types of Angles:
Go through the different types of angles and show example pictures with each one.
Acute Angle: an angle that is less than 90°
Right Angle: an angle that is 90° exactly
Obtuse Angle: an angle that is greater than 90° but less than 180°
Straight Angle: an angle that is 180° exactly
Reflex Angle: an angle that is greater than 180°
